No 10. Carly Fiorina CEO, HP Last year's position : 22
Mixed feelings from the panel on Fiorina this time, yet she still gains 12 spots to place at 10. On the merger with Compaq - yes, she's pulled it off where many said she wouldn't survive the integration and the small matter of being sued by the co-founder's son. On a viable services strategy - no, HP still isn't doing enough, especially against IBM and the pure play outsourcers. Shifting boxes won't be enough long-term.
But as one panellist put it: "Let's not underestimate her. She has incredible leadership qualities. [During the merger] she maintained her belief and focus and leadership throughout."
The poll's highest placed woman, just like last year.
