Tony is responsible for all
analysis and opinion content on silicon.com as well as the special
reports and guides that complement daily news output. He was a launch
editor for the Agenda Setters survey in 2000, and has been at silicon.com
since 1998, initially as a senior reporter. Before joining the online
service, Tony worked for Sequent Computers and in market research.
Rene Carayol
CEO, Voodoo
Rene Carayol is the CEO of
ebusiness consultancy Voodoo, working with a number of old economy
companies making the transition to a world of 'e' everything. Prior
to founding Voodoo he was MD of IPC Electric and IT director at
IPC Media. Rene has also held senior IT positions at Pizza Hut and
Marks & Spencer. He is the chairman of music industry organisation
Mobo, and his book Corporate Voodoo is released this spring.
Ajay Chowdhury
Managing partner, IDG
Ventures Europe
Ajay is a managing partner
in IDGV Europe, controlling a VC fund launched in September 2000
and worth $100m. Prior to this role, he was the launch CEO of NBC
Internet Europe. Before that, he was widely known as the CEO of
LineOne, one of the UK's largest ISPs, and a joint venture between
BT, News International and United News and Media. He has also been
MD of United Interactive and a manager at Bain & Co.
Tim Johnson
Founder, Ovum
Tim Johnson founded telecoms
consultancy Ovum in 1985 and still has a hands-on role, editing
Access@Ovum
and specialising in broadband technologies. He created the telecoms
report Tarifica in the 1970s, and has experience in video production,
website development and AI. Prior to going it alone, Tim worked
for Logica for seven years, and was Technology Editor of The Sunday
Times
Ian Jones
Editor-in-chief (UK),
silicon.com
Ian oversees all silicon.com
content in the UK and was instrumental in the establishment of silicon.de,
the publication's first non-English language information service.
He was part of the team that launched silicon.com in 1998, joining
the publication after various editing and reporting roles at VNU
Business Publications and Dennis Publishing.
Dr Richard Sykes
Chairman, Morgan Chambers
Richard is the chairman of
start-ups Solcom and Site Confidence, as well as sourcing consultancy
Morgan Chambers. He worked for over 25 years at chemicals giant
ICI, until 18 months ago holding the position of VP IT. Before joining
ICI, he was a campaigner for safer products with Ralph Nader in
the US. He is also a non-executive director of the e-skills NTO
and trustee of the charity HumanITy.
Jonathan Steel
Founder and chairman,
Bathwick Group
Jonathan is an expert on
all things internet in Europe, manages the Bathwick Group's research
and corporate benchmarking programmes, and regularly helps steer
the ebusiness strategy of European Top 500 companies. His company
has produced the e-league list of Europe's Top 100 pre-IPO internet
companies in association with The Sunday Times, and he is a regular
public speaker and columnist for the Financial Mail on Sunday.
Perri 6
Author and senior research
fellow,
Strathclyde University
A former Director of Policy
and Research at think tank Demos, Perri 6 is a leading authority
on privacy, identity and trust in the digital age, and the move
towards e-government. He is an independent researcher on IT issues,
and books by him include The Future of Privacy (1998), Holistic
Government (1997), and the upcoming Governing in the Round: Strategies
for Holistic Government.
